About Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National Park is one of Kenya’s most distinctive safari destinations, recognised for its large elephant herds and dramatic views of Mount Kilimanjaro across the border in Tanzania. The park combines open plains, acacia woodland, thorn scrub and wetland areas within a compact wildlife landscape.

Game drives commonly reveal elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebras and other plains wildlife, while seasonal wetlands attract a wide variety of birds. Observation Hill provides broad views across the park, and the Amboseli basin creates striking contrasts between dry plains, green marshes and the mountain backdrop.

Amboseli is well suited to photographers, families, first-time safari travellers and anyone particularly interested in elephants and dramatic scenery. Its close wildlife encounters and unmistakable Kilimanjaro backdrop create a safari experience that differs from the rolling grasslands of the Mara and the semi-arid wilderness of Tsavo East.
